KEEP PRESSING ON

Hey, everybody! Hope you are enjoying the Program Directors For A Day as much as we are. We have them for the rest of this week. Look forward to the triumphant return of Club Carl, featuring Tune Town hero Carl!

ADDENDUM: CLUB CARL HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A SCHEDULING CONFLICT. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER UPDATES.

I found these films on You Tube that will teach you all about how vinyl records are pressed:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xUGRRUecBik&search=vinyl
http://youtube.com/watch?v=IReDh9ec_rk&search=vinyl

Now that you know how it is done, why don't you go out and make your own record? Here's the web address for the factory that pressed up our morning show 7":
http://www.urpressing.com/

They do good work and are very helpful. Press up your vanity recording and send us a copy to play on the show!

Give the gift of Vinyl.

THIS THURSDAY EVENING: SHUFFLE FUNCTION TURNS FIVE!
This Thursday the show turns five years old, and we're marking it by airing An Evening With The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, Take Two, Part Two. The Ledge brings us up to day with all things Stardust. We'll also be featuring the world premiere of three new Ledge tracks. You will be the first people IN THE ENTIRE WORLD to hear these songs, so be sure to tune in. We'll also be announcing an anniversary contest that night, so you'll want to tune in for all the details. It all happens Thursday June 1st @ six p.m. on 89.7 fm.

Thanks for all your support over the years, you guys. You've made this whole thing a million times more fun than anything we've ever done.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS SHUFFLE FUNCTION NOW?

Greetings from historic Tuscany! My Italian is pretty rusty, but I believe the sign April is holding says "four out of five Italian women adore Shyboy Tim". Yes, I'm sure that's what is says. Thanks for the photo, guys!

I'm still reeling from the Gilmore Girls finale. I will never watch that episode again. It is just too painful for me to relive. The only person more betrayed than Luke is me. WHY LORELEI? WHY?!!!!

Anyway, to bring back fond memories of Gilmores gone by, here's one of my favorite moments. Kirk becomes Bergman. Enjoy. Try to ignore the presence of the user named Christopher.

MAY 24th IS DYLAN'S BIRTHDAY!

KSMU listener Diane had the genius idea to have a day sponsor in honor of Dylan's birthday, so we're going to be spinning The Bard from the North Country all day long! Send your requests to shufflefunction@hotmail.com or call us during show, and we'll try to make sure we have them for you on the big day. This Dylan tribute is just one great way that you can use a day sponsorship. You can mark an occasion and support community radio on one grand gesture! For more info, feel free to contact the station.

In honor of the Dylan tribute day and Gilmore Girls, here's a claymation clip somebody made that shows what it would be like if Dylan were to write a song about the show.

THE END OF STARS HOLLOW AS WE KNOW IT (AND I'M NOT FINE)

The season finale of Gilmore Girls is just over three hours away as I sit writing this. It'll also be the final episode produced by the Palladinos. It'll be star-studded, with appearances by Sonic Youth, Sparks, Yo La Tengo, etc., but still undeniably brutal. Seasons always end with an emotional cliffhanger, and that coupled with the loss of the creative visionaries behind my favorite show is killing me.

You may know that already.

One thing you may not know is that the show tonight is apparently two minutes longer than usual. The same thing happened last season, and Tivo owners were outraged at missing the final few minutes. Who can blame them? If you're like me and still live in the stone age, set your VCRs accordingly.

Good luck tonight.

Also, Wednesday and Friday we have Program Directors for a Day on the show, so tune in and cheer them on!
