ANDY BARKER P.I.: RIP

This is pretty familiar territory around these parts. We find a show that we adore and it gets cancelled. The latest entry in this category is from the idiots at NBC, who have cancelled Andy Richter's new show Andy Barker P.I. after airing only five episodes. They even went so far as to air the last two on the same night to speed the process along. Dorks.

Andy Barker P.I. was produced by Conan O'Brien, and also starred Tony Hale who played Buster Bluth on Arrested Development. One of these days Andy Richter will catch a break, but it wasn't this time around. I knew that the pairing of Richter and Hale was too good to be true.

Anyway, you should all act now and go to nbc.com, where the network still has the good sense to have all six Andy Barker episodes posted on line. My favorite is the one that features Amy Sedaris (The Lady Varnishes), but they are all genius. Watch them before they are gone... FOREVER!

Listener Appreciation Day For You Guys Day (Take 2)

Scroll down a few posts if none of this makes any sense to you, but due to technical difficulties (with the campus, not KMSU!!!), our second hour of Shuffle Function radio Roulette was cut off in it's prime, and MacArthur Park went unsung. We plan on doing it all over again this Friday. Now I know we are only asking for trouble because this Friday is April 13th. But lets' see what happens!!

Again, all of you are invited to join us in the studio to play Radio Roulette with us. That's right - you get to pick a number from the magic hat, flip the coin, and roll the dice. And please grab your instrument and join us for the last ten minutes of the show to sing a little dittie about cake and rain. You know the one - THE BEST SONG EVER MADE!!!!

We hope to see you all on Friday - email us at shufflefunction@hotmail.com if you have any questions!!

OH MY GOD THIS MORNING SUCKED.......

Sorry this took a while to post. Tim and I both had to go directly to our other jobs that support our radio habits, and neither of us has had a chance to write anything till now.

Here's the story morning glory:

So we were minding our own business, playing B sides and K-Tel records, and appreciating KMSU's listeners, when suddenly someone cut the stations underground wires and takes us off the air!!! And not just us - the entire Alumni Foundation Building was without phones and the on-lines too. I can't help myself, I need to say it one more time. OH MY GOD THIS MORNING SUCKED. NO - IT HURT, THAT'S WHAT IT DID. IT HURT !!!!!

I realize that apologizing for something that I had nothing to do with is ridiculous, but I am so sorry. We plan on rescheduling the Listener Appreciation Day For You Guys Day sometime next week. We will let you know on Monday. Although we did get to play our hour of B sides, we didn't get to play Shuffle Function Radio Roulette, or sing MacArthur Park together, and that is something that we really want to do.

So please stay tuned - and once again I apologize for the dead air. At least this time it had nothing to do with our aging sewing machine of a transmitter or ice storms, if there is an upside to all of this.

Have a great weekend you guys, drive safely if you are hitting the road Jack, and we will talk to you all on Monday morning.

Shelley

c'mon party people

The KMSU Spring Pledge was amazing, and Shyboy Tim and I want to celebrate the occassion with you guys - the folks responsible for making the goal!!!

TUNE IN THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 6th,
6 to 8 AM FOR OPERATION: CELEBRATION !!!

Wait that sounds silly. Try this out - Tune in on Friday for our Shuffle Function listener appreciation party. The itinerary for the morning goes as follows:

Six to Seven AM
Tim and I will be spinning vinyl only, and not just any old vinyl. We will be playing B sides of 45's.

Seven to Eight AM
Get ready for Shuffle Function Radio Roulette, but with a twist. We want you, cats and kittens, to come up to the station and be a part of this. You can draw a number out of the magic hat, flip the coin, and roll the 10 sided dice from Tim's bag of magic holding. YOU HELP CONTROL THE RADIO FATES OF SOUTHERN MINNESOTA, NORTHERN IOWA, AND THE WORLD.

AND AT 7:50ish AM, MacArthur's Park Sing-A-Long
Please join us in the studio for a good old fashioned sing-a-long of the finest song ever recorded. If you have an instrument, please bring it along (note I said have, not play, so if you haven't touched that trumpet under your bed for over twenty years - that's okay. This song is all about the drama, not musicianship). Be sure to be at KMSU by 7:45 if possible.

OH YEAH - The Request Ride will be available all morning long.
You will probably have to ride it unaccompanied, unless we can get Scooter Polanski. But he works hard for his money, so there are no promises.

We really would like to see you guys on Friday - you are what this is all about and we love being able to attach faces to the voices we hear every morning. If you have questions about where KMSU is located, call us or drop us an email at shufflefunction@hotmail.com We are located on the second floor of the Alumni Foundation Building, which is located north of the European style shopping mall that contains Chipotles, Tune Town, and the Hub.

We hope to see you then - and don't forget to bring your instruments, as well as your Radio Roulette Mojo.

Shelley
