IT'S HALLOWEEN! (ALMOST)

Don't forget that this Friday, February 29th, it's Halloween! How better to celebrate that freaky extra day than with a reprise of the freakiest of holidays! Stop by the station and Trick or Treat, and if you are wearing a costume you will get an extra special treat! Shelley and I can write you a note for your boss or teacher if you need an explanation for why you are dressed as a pirate in February. Unless you are a pirate in real life, in which case we will explain why you are dressed as an orthodontist.

Here's some freaky footage to get you in the mood. Happy Halloween, everybody!

A HALLOWEEN STATE OF MIND

February 29th is Freaky Friday, and as we mentioned earlier, Shuffle Function has declared that day to be HALLOWEEN IN FEBRUARY. We came up with this idea live on the air while thinking about how to mark a day like Leap Year on the radio. You know how much we dislike the commercial side of holidays, but there is just no such thing as too much Halloween.

HERE IS THE DEALIO !!
From 6 to 8 a.m. on the morning show we will be playing Halloween music and passing out trick or treat candy at the station (the good stuff - not pencils, apples and tooth brushes). AND if you show up to trick or treat in costume, you will get an extra special SHUFFLE FUNCTION TREAT. As Shyboy Tim said, showing up at work dressed like Wonder Woman or Frankenstein in February is not easy to justify to your boss. If you need a note for school or work, we will supply you with one.

I've got some video clips to share with you - and they will reawaken that Halloween Spirit in us all. See you February 29th trick or treaters!!!

This is simply the best television show ever, or it was for me at the age of seven. The Origianl Ghostbusters WARNING: this song is catchy, it will stick in your head longer than that whistling song!!

This is real, I kid you not. In fact the other two parts you can find at you tube.

If this doesn't get you into the Halloween spirit, then I just give up. Vincent Price. Tim Burton. Happy February Halloween.

Last but not least, Dario Argento's masterpiece 'Suspiria'. I love this clip because it ends at about the exact same time that I couldn't take it anymore. I begged Shyboy Tim and Scooter Polanski to stop playing it. Intense doesn't even begin to describe this film.

ARE YOU WANTING TO GO BIGFOOTIN' ?

To break up the playlists of the last few weeks, I thought I'd share with you some trailers for brand new films about BIGFOOT. Apparently we are not the only ones with Bigfoot on the brain.

The first one is from an upcoming documentary called 'Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie'. Looks to be a mix-em-up between 'Roger And Me' and 'In Search Of'.

This is a movie trailer for the new retro horror film THE WILD MAN OF THE NAVIDAD by Duane Graves and Justin Meeks. It was co-produced by Kim Henkel, the writer/producer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Tobe Hooper in 1974. This time Bigfoot is in Texas, not Ohio. The trailer starts out looking like a Rob Zombie film and then............well you see for yourself.

And last of all, we head back north to the state of Maine. This film is called 'Monster In The Woods', and features a cameo of Cryptomundo curator Loren Coleman.

LEAP YEAR = HALLOWEEN IN FEBRUARY!

Hey kids! 2008 is a leap year! You know, nothing is freakier than looking at the calendar and suddenly realizing you have an extra day. That's why Shuffle Function has decided that February 29th, 2008 is going be February Halloween! We'll be playing Halloween music all morning, and you can feel free to stop by the station and trick or treat. Costumes would be cool, but since it is harder to justify dressing as a mummy at work in February we understand if you don't. Still, Halloween! In February! FINALLY!

CAUCUS CAUCUS, WHO'S GOT THE CAUCUS

Tomorrow is a big day for Minnesotans as well as 23 other states. I have heard it referred to as "Big Tuesday", "Tsunami Tuesday" and oddly "Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday". Not sure what three of them have to do with the political process, but it sure sounded funny. I have been participating in the caucus's since 1986, when I was a senior at West and Mr. Schimmel gave us extra credit for attending. I've attended at least the precinct caucus ever since. I say this only because I think every one should give it a try. It is such an exciting and inspiring way to contribute to our political life. In a world where so many people say "I don't make a difference" or "It just makes me angry I avoid it", I can't help but think you would feel differently if you actually participated. You will get hooked, I promise, especially in a Presidential Election year.

So where do I go if I want to vote Republican? or Democrat? or Green Party? What time does the caucus begin? All of this information can be found at this great web site:

http://www.caucusfinder.sos.state.mn.us/

You will be asked to enter your zip code, and then choose your County. Then you will be asked to choose your town, and then finally input your street address. You will then be shown all of the information you will need regarding times, locations, and party affiliations. Simple Simple Simple (I am keeping with the three word theme).

If you have any questions, try these websites:

http://www.dfl.org/ , http://www.mngop.org/ , http://www.mngreens.org/

You can also check the daily paper, or give us a call in the morning. Again I would like to refer you to the previous blog entry for the "How To Caucus" youtube clip. It really explains things nicely, and I think it will put all of you first time caucus goers at ease.

It will be an exciting and long night, and I applaud those of you who plan on participating. See you there!!!

A FEW WORDS, AND A SNEAK PEEK

I updated the last few weeks of playlists today, and that means the info on how to send us your Valentine's Day dedications is a little further down the blog line. Keep scrolling down, you will find it. You can email your Valentines Day dedications to us at shufflefunction@hotmail.com

Tuesday is caucus day in Minnesota, and tomorrow evening I will be putting up some info concerning the wheres, whats, and hows. In the meantime, here is a video made by Al Franken about the caucus experience.

I try to remain nuetral when I talk politics on the air, and this video clip has an obvious Al Franken bias to it, but it illustrates the caucus procedures really well. So if you have never been to one, this video does a lot to demystify the process. If you surf back to the blog tomorrow night, I will have posted some more information.
