October Halloween Posts #17 and #18
I knew it would be a challenge to blog daily, and yesterday is the first day that sleep just seemed more important. Sorry about that folks, I won't let it happen again because Halloween is coming right up!! Today I want to talk Haunted Houses.
The Soap Factory Art Museum in Minneapolis hosts something called The Haunted Basement. What sets this haunted House apart from others? This one requires you to sign a waiver to enter AND you have to be over the age of 18. I heard one of the curators talking about the basement space, and he said that it is so frightening even when it is not decorated for Halloween that they could charge ten bucks a ticket just to let folks walk around down there with a flashlight and people would be scaring the crap out of themselves.
Another over the top frightening element of the Soap Factory Haunted Basement is that the soundtrack they play for your adventure features EVPs captured by The Twin Cities Paranormal Society. Not sure what an EVP is? here is an example from Ghost Hunters. It is short for Electronic Voice Phenomena and is disembodied "voices" imprinted on audio recording equipment.
I love the idea of having to sign a waiver in order to enter, http://www.soapfactory.org/files/halloween_waiver_09.pdf
and all of the proceeds go towards their art exhibits at The Soap Factory. This is their third year in the scare business, and I have never attended the Haunted Basement, but I have been to the museum and I promise you that it is in a real spooky factory setting. If you are interested in attending you have to but tickets on-line. You can find maps and more info at their web site, at http://www.soapfactory.org/ If you attend - wear some Shuffle Function swag and get a picture of yourself at The Soap factory - we will post the photo on the blog!!
