Tim: talks about the weather
Shelley: And we should probably mention that we have been playing a lot of Sid Vicious today, this is the day that Sid passed away.
Tim: Yes, on this day in 1979 Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols died of a heroin overdose in New York City. There had been a party to celebrate Vicious's release on bail pending his trial for the murder of his former girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, the previous October. Party guests said that Vicious had taken heroin after midnight. An autopsy confirmed that Sid Vicious died from an accumulation of fluid in the lungs that is consistent with a heroin overdose. A syringe, spoon and heroin residue were found near the body.
Shelley: Did Sid die in the Chelsea Hotel?
Tim: No.... I don't think he was living there at the time.
Shelley: I hate to admit it, but most of my Sid Vicious knowledge comes from taht movie Sid and Nancy - who was the director for that?
Tim: Oh Alex Cox did that!
Shelley: Was that before or after he did Repo Man?
Tim: That was after, he was kind of on a roll until he did Straight To Hell and Hunter S Thompson yelled at him.
Shelley: And he directed a film that I love that I don't think alot of people know about, Walker.
Tim: With Ed Harris right? That was when Hollywood was calling him the .......... Wunderkind! But then he did Straight To Hell.
Shelley: I think he thought, "Well, I have all these great actors who will work with me, why not put them in the middle of the desert, give thm some guns, and make a Western?"
Tim: Yeah, you'd think that having Courtney Love, Joe Strummer, Shane MacGowan, and Elvis Costello in a film would make it golden!
Shelley and Tim: laughs
Shelley: What was the name of that guy who was in all of his films.....the director.......Bill. Bill Something?
Tim: I don't know. Here is Sonny and Cher.
6. Sonny and Cher - I got you babe
