LIFE CHANGING ANNOUNCEMENT #2 GRIND-FU CINEMA 2010

As you guys already know, we're throwing a special post-marathon Grind-Fu Cinema on Saturday, April 3rd. See the poster above. We're gonna be screening a couple of creepy classics FOR FREE as a thank-you for all your support during the marathon and the pledge drive. It's gonna start @ 7:00pm in Wiecking 220 Auditorium, right here on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. But this is not the official start of the 2010 Grind-Fu Season...

With funding from the Minnesota State Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, GRIND-FU CINEMA HAS MONEY TO PAY FOR MOVIES TO SCREEN! This year Grind-Fu will be bigger, louder, crazier, and MORE FUNNER than the previous two years, AND IT WILL STILL BE COMPLETELY FREE!

Because the line-up we've assembled is so crazy awesome, we're going to announce the dates and titles NOW, so you have time to ask off from work, find a baby sitter, call in sick... whatever you need to do to see these movies.

THE LINE-UP!

Saturday, May 29th: TWELVE HOUR GRIND-FU MARATHON, FEATURING JOHN WATERS' FEMALE TROUBLE!

We're featuring a full day of Grind-Fu Favorites, beginning at noon and running until midnight. To end the whole show we'll be screening the incredibly outrageous and offensive Female Trouble, starring Divine, David Lochary, Edith Massey, and a cast of reprobates. You're really gonna want to clear your schedule for this one!

Due to the messed up nature of Female Trouble, NO ONE UNDER 17 WILL BE ADMITTED DURING ITS SCREENING!

Saturday, June 26th: THE WARRIORS & ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!

Two gritty New York classics! The Warriors is considered by many to be THE ULTIMATE gang film. CAN YOU DIG IT? John Carpenter's Escape From New York features classic performances from Kurt Russell, Harry Dean Stanton, Isaac Hayes, and Ernest Borgnine! New York as a prison and the president is held hostage? Only Snake Plisskin can save the day!

Saturday, July 31st: WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY & HEAVY METAL!

An evening of incredibly trippy and wildly different films! We've heard from people since the beginning that they haven't been able to go to Grind-Fu Cinema because of the kids, so we're bringing a classic kid's film to the Wiecking screen, then following it with a completely inappropriate cartoon!

NO CHILDREN WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE THEATER DURING HEAVY METAL! Don't worry, though, because WE'LL HAVE A SPECIAL 2:00pm MATINEE OF WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY JUST FOR THEM! That's right: the first ever Grind-Fu Kiddy Matinee.

But seriously, folks... Heavy Metal aint for kids. Don't show this to your kids.

Saturday, August 28th: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT & ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL!

The first and greatest film from The Beatles in all their YEAH YEAH glory, with a Roger Corman produced Punk Rock Romp feature the THE RAMONES!

Saturday, September 25th: REAL GENIUS & REVENGE OF THE NERDS!

This one is for the geeks in the crowd. Two classic braniac comedies. It doesn't take a real genius to figure out that this is one free double bill you will not want to miss!

THE FINAL GRIND-FU OF 2010
Saturday, October 30th: SUSPIRIA & SE7EN!

For Halloween we've spared no expense. We're gonna scare the living crap out of you. If you've never seen Dario Argento's Italian horror masterpiece Suspiria, then you better be sure you're ready for it. The first time Shelley saw this she only lasted ten minutes before she insisted the film be stopped. It was just that intense. We're following it up with David Fincher's Se7en, a truly disturbing serial killer film. What happens during Se7en is unthinkable, and yet somebody had to think it up. Yikes to that.

There you go! The full 2010 line-up of Grind-Fu Cinema, and STILL COMPLETELY FREE! Plan accordingly. NOW PLEDGE! 507-389-5678 or 1-800-456-7810. Help keep KMSU alive and well for all the world to enjoy!

Thanks.
