Simply put, The Fleshtones have ruined live music in Mankato, because at this point NO BAND CAN TOP THE SHOW THEY PUT ON. Oh, there will still be live music... bands will still come and go... but every live show from here on out lives under the mighty shadow of The Fleshtones, who blasted through town on May 21st, 2010, leaving a trail of dazed and amazed in their wake.
The Legendary Stardust Cowboy had just finished playing, and we weren't sure when The Fleshtones would hit. Suddenly there was a drum beat from the back of the room, and there were the guys, singing Hexbreaker and parting the crowd as they made their way towards the stage.
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ON STAGE: THE FLESHTONES AND KLAUS FLOURIDE!
I forget the name of the blonde woman, but she was super nice and gave me and Shelley ice cream before the show.
Keith and Ken did this crazy thing where Ken played Keith's guitar, and Keith played Ken's bass. Then they marched in circles. Crazy awesome showmanship.
At one point Ken and Keith left the stage for a push-up contest. The previously mentioned blonde woman took over the bass, and Chuck took over on guitar. If you are familiar with live shows in Mankato, then you know that it aint a live show until Chuck jumps on stage.
Keith was done with the contest, and had to make Chuck surrender the guitar. Chuck, having had a taste of Fleshtones madness, seems reluctant to do give it back.
