THE NEW WINTER STORM IS CALLED...

WINTER STORM RICHARD BRIERS!

Shelley sure does love the show Good Neighbors.
OKAY - I HAD TO WORK THROUGHOUT MOST OF WINTER STORM RICHARD BRIERS, SO I WANT TO GIVE THIS POST A BIT MORE MUSCLE. (It's only appropriate, this is the first storm where I got my car stuck!) I fell in love with Richard Briers watching The Good Neighbors (or as it is called in Britain, The Good Life). PBS channel 2 was a regular haunt for me, and this was on every night at 9 p.m. followed by Monty Python. Richard Briers plays the character of Tom Good, a disenfranchised business man who gives up the rat race to become self sufficient - with the help of his wife. Nosing around the on-lines, I found this special Christmas treat. It is in several parts, so if you have some free time this will fill it up.

Enjoy - and be careful with the roads out there kids!! The Converse Shoe Warning is still in full effect!!

TOMORROW THE HOLIDAYS COME EARLY TO SHUFFLE FUNCTION LAND

Begining tomorrow morning Shyboy Tim and I are opening wide the Christmas Gift flood gates. All right, maybe that doesn't make sense. Let me put it this way, to misquote William H. Macy's character in Magnolia, "WE HAVE A LOT OF CHRISTMAS GIFT LOVE TO GIVE AND WE JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT IT". If you have been checking in on the blog as of late you have probably already seen Shyboy Tim's post on what we are giving away. Scroll on back or simply click this magic link.

We will be giving away the Syd Barrett, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix CDs Monday through Thursday morning. Tune in Monday morning for the rules of the road. There will be a top secret prompt for you to listen for. We will give away one of these CDs to the first person to call in when they hear the prompt at 507-389-5678 or 1-800-456-7810 and say "HO! HO! HO! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!" in the manner of a very jolly not santa person.

So gather around your radio, folks and listen for your chance to start the holidays a tiny bit early, and cross your snow fingers that we won't be forced to name another Winter Storm this week!!

Shelley

So next week is the big final swing into Christmas, and we're gonna give away a ton of stuff! We have three different CDs that we will be giving out, and here's a big head's up so you know what to listen for!

SYD BARRETT - AN INTRODUCTION TO SYD BARRETT
It's always best to dive right in with full albums, if you wanna get a feel for Syd, but this collection is a pretty good place to start! It's also the first Syd collection to assemble solo and Floyd era stuff, so it gives you a bit of perspective. Plus, the solo material has been remixed by David Gilmour! PLUS, you get a free download of the legendary unreleased 20 minute epic Rhamadan!

BOB DYLAN - THE BEST OF THE ORIGINAL MONO RECORDINGS
In case you haven't already noticed, the mix makes a difference. We go on and on about the mono/stereo differences in The Beatles recordings, and now Dylan has stepped into the fray with mono remasters of his first eight albums. This collection compiles some of the finest moments from those albums into on handy disc.
