We play an awful lot of Yo La Tengo on Shuffle Function, and tonight you have an opportunity to hear them play live in the studios of WFMU. To help raise funds for the best station in the world, Yo La Tengo will be playing your requests. They play the requests regardless of whether or not they know the song - and that is where it gets pretty fun.
If you are hip to the world of technology, I highly reccomend that you get the free WFMU app. This allows you to stream the station live and you can also access their archived shows. It is essential for all music geeks and as I mentioned previously it is FREE! If I found it on iTunes than I am sure that you can.
The Yo La Tengo event begins tonight at 8 pm Central Time and runs till at least 11 pm. They will also be streaming the event live on line here at the WFMU website. This is must see/hear radio folks.
And just a reminder to all the Zombie Apocolypse fans out there, the Walking Dead marathon starts at 7 pm tonight. This is some of the best zombie related entertainmemt out there kids - but I bet you already know that.
So much to see and hear, and so little time!
HERE IS THE SET LIST FROM THEIR SHOW:
Yo La Tengo All Request Marathon: Setlist From Last Night
A big thanks to everyone who pledged during Yo La Tengo's live covers-for-pledges 'thon tradition last nite, and to NJ's finest for kickin' out the jams, and to our hosts, engineers, phone room volunteers, videographers, and everyone who helped make this annual WFMU Marathon tradition possible! Listeners were playing Name That Tune on twitter using the #wfmuthon hashtag, and below here's a full setlist compiled by listener Ken Katkin (Trash Flow Radio) -- thanks for sharing Ken!
The 2011 Fundraising Marathon runs through March 13th and we still have a week's worth of prizes, premiums, and special events, so stay tuned!
