We get excited about every Grind-Fu screening, but this one is pretty special. The Grind-Fu crew is packed with Wes Anderson fans, and we don't think twice about roadtripping to catch one of his movies in a theater. Shyboy Tim refuses to get any of his films on anything other than a Criterion Collection DVD, simply because he feels any other release doesn't do the films justice. Also, Anderson knows how to compose a shot, and his love of the Futura font family is legend. Throw in great stories, killer soundtracks, and armies of great actors, and you have a cinematic brew that'll make you laugh and cry, and not in a cheesy Hollywood way. That's why we are thrilled to be screening Rushmore, Wes Anderson's second film, and a sentimental favorite around these parts.

As if showing Rushmore isn't enough, we're starting the evening off with rare performance footage of the Dondero A Cappella Choir and Pop Concert Instruments. Shuffle Function is featuring a day of Dondero related programming on June 23rd (info can be found on this blog), and the love fest continues on the 25th. It's one thing to hear the Dondero performances, but to see them is another thing entirely. The footage captures everything that is enthusiastic and exciting and awkward about high school, and we really think you'll love it.

It all goes down at seven p.m. on Saturday, June 25th, in Wiecking 220 Auditorium on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. As always, Grind-Fu Cinema is FREE! Don't cost nuthin', which is nice. Bring your own snacks and friends, and settle in for a great evening of cinema!

I'm the new boy in town! Where can I go?
