I'm The New Boy In Town! Where Can I Go?

This is something I would train for.......

Nothing would motivate me more to run than knowing zombies were hot on my trail and hungry for brains! Apparently I am not alone in thinking this way. Check out this web site for "Run For Your Lives! a 5K Obstacle Course". As the name implies, there are zombies scattered throughout the course that are hell bent on catching you and taking you out of the game. It souns like a blast - in fact I am pretty sure that I have talked about this kind of thing before, so I am glad that somebody somewhere is listening!

Check out their video - the only thing that scares me is the fact that these would be fast moving zombies too!

snafus

Don't get me wrong - I am very glad that we can still be on the air - but the technical difficulties have got me down.

The BBC news started two minutes early today and there was no way to turn it off. Yesterday it started 45 seconds late. SOOOOOO - here is my final set that I didn't get to mention:

They Might Be Giants - when will you die
Sonics - psycho
The Black Angels - bad vibrations
Smith - baby it's you
The Fleshtones - I am what I am

Sorry folks. Fingers crossed that tomorrow the turntable will be fixed and the BBC will be on time, and rose petals will be scattered about the studio and plates of bacon will fill the room with a bacon-y bacon smell. Fingers crossed.

THIS IS THE GUY THAT DID OUR MORNING SHOW THEME SONG

HEY! The Shuffle Function morning show first aired on July 26th, 2004. The very first thing you would have heard is our AMAZING theme song, which is performed by Songs to Wear Pants To. We get people asking where we got the song, so here's a YouTube video by the mastermind of Songs To Wear Pants To, Andrew Huang. Check out his website at songstowearpantsto.com. He details how his project started, as well as mentions how he used to auction commissions for songs on ebay (which is how we got our theme song!)

Anyway, he's amazing. Here's Andrew telling his story:

DOPE MC:

And here's a cool song that he plays on 1000 pairs of jeans:

Here's a mashup Andrew made of every mention of "Club", "Party", "Drunk", as well as every mention of "hands being up" in Billboard Top 10 hits from 2010:

MACCA IS DELUSIONAL!

"This is the thing. Even if I had been thinking of retiring, someone will tell me they were at a club and heard Temporary Secretary: 'DJ down in Brighton. Playing the shit out of it." That makes you listen to it again- Yeah, I can see what they're getting at. It's lovely, these reawakenings."

-Paul McCartney, August 2011 issue of Mojo

If anything, Temporary Secretary serves as a reason for retirement. For a refresher, watch this video:

I'm The New Boy In Town! Where Can I Go?

And on a completely unrelated yet it still fits in note, I just watched the official trailer for season two of WALKING DEAD. If you nose around on the internet or maybe you heard us mention it on the show, there was a short teaser that was leaked for the upcoming season that was woefully disappointing. A few days later it was discovered to be a short teaser made by a fan and not the folks responsible for WALKING DEAD.

BUT HAVE NO FEAR ABOUT THIS TRAILER FOLKS!! It picks up right where the first season ended - which was in awesome town. And the best part of the trailer? It comes right at the end when we see a new face in the group, who is none other than one of my favorite actors ever SCOTT WILSON!! He is an actor that doesn't ring a lot of bells for most people, but I love him so much I named my second car "Captain Billy" after his character in The Ninth Configuration. He is perhaps best known for his role in the original In Cold Blood, but check out June Bug or the Exorcist III for some of his amazing performances. Scott Wilson shows up at the 4:20 point.

SO here it is folks, start your engines!

STATION STATUS UPDATE!

As of Thursday a.m. KMSU is on the air. We're running on a backup transmitter, which generates a less powerful signal, so there maybe areas that we normally hit that are unable to pick up our broadcasts.

Our in-studio computer has a total and complete meltdown. They are big and expensive and are custom built, so we're not sure how long it will be before our full broadcast operation is back to normal. We will be doing the show from a different studio, which is weird and ONLY HAS ONE TURNTABLE. It's horrible!

We are broadcasting online at kmsu.org, in case you can't get our signal.

Anyway, thanks for your understanding during this bad situation. It's been years since we've had a meltdown like this, and hopefully it won't happen again any time soon!

GULLY GOES ON VACATION AND THE WHOLE PLACE FALLS APART!

This morning we discovered that some idiot had used the on air computer to browse porn or open questionable links, resulting in a virus shutting down the whole system. THEN the cooling system in the transmitter building shutdown, resulting in the transmitter shutting down.

When Gully goes away the whole stations goes to the dogs. Hopefully things will be back up shortly, but we apologize for any interruption in the broadcast. We are as pissed about it as you are.

HERSCHELL GORDON LEWIS SAYS NO, and THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS RULE

Is BLOOD FEAST a foodie movie? We have gone to THE SOURCE - the only person who could answer this for us, the director of Blood Feast Herschell Gordon Lewis. This is his response:

"Because no foods actually are served onscreen, I wouldn't classify "Blood Feast" as a foodie movie. Maybe "Urpy movie" is a better category."

HGL

I will abide by Mr. Lewis's decision and I will never mention it again around Shyboy Tim.

In unrelated news, They Might Be Giants are awesome and if you need proof look no further than this clip!

They Might Be Giants covers Chumbawamba

Stay cool people!

The first show is for foodies, motorcycle enthusiasts, and the disturbed. This is how IMDB describes it:

"An undertaker and his two friends, who are restaurant owners, drum up business by going out on the town and killing people; the restaurant owners use parts of the bodies for their menu, and the undertaker gets paid by the families to bury the remainder. Their racket goes awry when 2 detectives suspect that something isn't quite kosher."

The second film comes to us by way of Herschell Gordon Lewis, the Godfather of Gore. This is how IMDB describes it:

"A demented, elderly woman has her mentally retarded son kill and scalp various young women to use their hair for her wig shop while a persistent coed tries to link various killings on a local Florida college campus to them."
