By now you know that The Legendary Stardust Cowboy is part of the Shuffle Function family. He calls us on the phone to warn us of scary weather, to share good news and even when he is feeling down in the dumps. He knows Minnesota is a hot bed of Ledge fans, and for good reason. When he shared the bill with The Fleshtones a few years back at the KMSU Listener Appreciation Show, he tore the roof off the joint. Ask around if you weren't there - YOU WILL HEAR STORIES!
We have had a long relationship with The Legendary Stardust Cowboy - spanning back to our first year on the radio. I wrote him an embarrassing fan girl letter asking for an interview, and he was kind enough to reply. He was the first person I reached out to in attempts to get an interview for the show, and his enthusiasm and willingness to talk about his music career to a couple of music geeks he'd never met in Minnesota will never be forgotten by Tim and I. Simply put, we love The Ledge!!
If you spend a few minutes in conversation with The Ledge, he will inevitably talk about one of two things - the weather or TV. As a young man he set off for New York City in hopes of hitting the big time and appearing on the Johnny Carson Show. He did appear on Rowan and Martin's "Laugh-In" but it was a disaster all around. He still dreams of being on TV and connecting with viewers who have never heard of him. In the mind of The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, there is no one better then Ellen DeGeneres!! He watches her show every day, and can't get enough. If I had a nickel for every time he talked about her, I would be retired and living comfortably by now.
I THINK THAT WE SHOULD TRY TO GET THE LEGENDARY STARDUST COWBOY ON THE ELLEN DeGENERES SHOW !!!
Can you imagine it? I can !! But this is no small feat - it means getting a lot of people involved in the process. Let's make a Cowboy happy.
You can do your part by following these three simple steps:
1) Follow this link to the web page where Ellen DeGeneres asks the question "Who would you like to see on the show?"
The answer is THE LEGENDARY STARDUST COWBOY!!!
As the web page states,
"If you know an amazing person that just has to be on the show, let us know! It could be a local hero, a musician, a new group, or anyone else. Tell us about yourself and why you love this person so much, and they could wind up being Ellen's next guest!"
2) Please fill out the required information, and then wax poetic in the "Tell Us Your Story" section about why you feel The Legendary Stardust Cowboy should be on her show. I am not going to tell you what to write - I think telling them why in your own voice is best, and if they received a couple hundred responses that all say the same thing they would probably get ignored and tossed. Just start listing off what you love about The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, and explain why America needs to see him. It took me only a couple of minutes to complete - and I am not a strong typist.
Feel free to include his mailing address - here it is (this is one of the paper plates he threw into the crowd when he was in Mankato).
3) When you are done - please bug everyone you know who has a computer to do the same! Maybe share this link on your facebook page, tweet it, or scream it from the rooftops! The best way to make a splash is to get a lot of people involved in this process. Just imagine how much fun it would be to see The Legendary Stardust Cowboy sing "Paralyzed" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show!! America wouldn't know what hit 'em!! I want to hear the Ledge introduce the band and say "This is my bass player, Klaus Flouride from The Dead Kennedys"!
That's it. Just three simple steps can help make The Legendary Stardust Cowboy's dreams come true. Thanks for your help Radio Heroes. Let's make this happen!!
