HOLY CRAP, YOU GUYS! IT'S A NIGHT OF BADASS KUNG-FU TREACHERY FOR GRIND-FU! We're presenting a couple of films that will make you lose it with laughter. First on the bill is The Guy From Harlem. We showed this one last year and it probably received the best reaction of any Grind-Fu film we have ever shown. TGFH is funny in a million ways that it never intended to be. It's definitely from the "so bad it's good" school of film making. The Guy From Harlem can best be summed up by this quote:
"The film is technically horrendous: It is terribly written, poorly acted and has essentially no production values...The technical aspects of the film match the artistic elements, and I can't recommend this film to anyone for any reason."
Second on the bill is Black Dynamite, an amazing blaxploitation parody from 2009. This is one of those instances where the people that are making fun of the genre clearly LOVE what they are poking fun of, and what you get is both affectionate and hilarious. Really, this movie us FUH-NEE, and they hit all the right notes. Everything that The Guy From Harlem gets wrong, Black Dynamite gets right.
Grind-Fu Cinema is, of course, free! Two great movies that don't cost nuthin' is o.k. in our book. Bring some friends, some snacks and a sense of humor, and get ready for a great night of movies!
NOTE: Due to some technical glitches, Grind-Fu will be going on hiatus after this screening so that we can work out some kinks in the new theater setup.
I'm the new boy in town! Where can I go?
