Three years ago we thought we had maxed out our unobtainable goals.  We brought The Legendary Stardust Cowboy and The Fleshtones to Mankato for one night of unbelievable live music, and after that we sort of figured that was the top.  Nowhere else to go after that.

Well, for the last several months we've been setting this show up, and we're proud to announce that we've achieved yet another unobtainable goal.  KMSU and the Minnesota State Performance Series are proud to present the first Minnesota appearance of Jandek on Saturday, October 20th at 7:30 pm.

This is really happening.

You never know what to expect with Jandek, and that's part of the thrill.  Jandek's live appearances are musically diverse one-of-a-kind moments that can never be repeated. The fact that this will be the first Minnesota appearance of Jandek takes the whole affair up another notch.  This evening's performance will include a group of Mankato and Twin Cities-based musicians: Charles Gillett (Electric guitar), Craig B. Mataresse (Electric Bass), Adam Patterson (Drums, Percussion) and Brian DeGayner (Brass).

This is incredibly exciting.  If you aren't that up on Jandek and you'd like to learn more, you should feel free to join us this Saturday night at 9:00pm for the third meeting of the Jandek Study Group.  We'll be listening to the album Glasgow Sunday 2005, our first live album listen, in a theater setting.  The album is a good match for the environment, and with the announcment of the live show this should be the most exciting Study Group we've held so far.  Drop us a line at for details.
