In unprecedented Mankato film news, To Rome With Love, the new Woody Allen film, opened here on the nationwide release date.  I don't think this has happened in... I don't even know how long.  Maybe since Husbands and Wives opened?  That was, like, TWENTY YEARS AGO.  Stuff like this just doesn't happen in these parts.  When the new Woody Allen comes to town instead of the new Wes Anderson film things have gone topsy turvy.

If you're one of those folks that complains about the movie situation in Mankato being crazy mundane, then you need to ACTUALLY go when something like this happens.  My sister used to manage the mall theater, and she said people would always complain about never getting high brow films there.  The problem was that when these films DID actually come that people would show up the first day and then nobody would go the rest of the time it played.

You vote with your dollars, people.  You want stuff like Woody Allen films to play Kato?  Go to the movies when they arrive!  Complaining gets heard, but results come from actual ticket sales.

So... I have no idea how long To Rome With Love will be playing in Mankato, but my gut tells me that it won't be for long.  Save yourself the gas money to Uptown and see it right here in River City.

PS:  It's good.
