ROBERT RODRIGUEZ: MAKING MOVIES ON THE CHEAP

As I mentioned in the previous post, the heart of Scootermas is movie geekdom.  That's why we watch tons of movies and videos, and that's why we now hold Scootermas on Academy Awards weekend.  When it comes to movie geeks, two of the biggest out there are Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.  Both went pro the same year at Sundance, and both eat and breathe movies.

On many of Robert Rodriguez' DVDs you will find a feature called 10 Minute Film School.  With these short documentaries he shows you how he has worked fast and cheap and gotten amazing results.  It's how he started with El Mariachi, and it's how he works today, albeit on a larger scale.  By doing things himself and in house, Robert Rodriguez has managed to get exactly what he wants in his films without throwing piles of cash out the window.

Most movie geeks I know have daydreamed of making a movie, and if that's you then maybe these shorts will motivate you to get out there and start doing it.
