Years and years and years and years and YEARS and years... maybe first year Shuffle Function years and years ago... *gasp*... we went to the Twin Cities and saw a performance of the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players.  The band consists of Jason on keyboards, Tina on the slide projector, and their daughter Rachel on drums.  I think Rachel was 9 at the time.  They described their act as an indie-vaudville conceptual art-rock pop band, and what they would do is project slides they found at sales and auctions and then perform songs about what was on the screen.  The songs were incredibly catchy and a lot of fun.

It was clear during the show that Rachel called the shots.  She was directing her parents and having them fix her drums to what she thought she needed.  A real superstar.  After their set the crowd went nuts and cheered "RACHEL! RACHEL!" over and over until they came out again.  Tina said that Rachel insisted they do an encore, which they apparently never did.  It was pretty cool.

Anyway... I was recently watched some clips from a rare appearance by the Dot Wiggins band on youtube.  Dot was in The Shaggs, so naturally I wanted to see how she sounded in the 21st century.  As the clip went on I noticed a couple of girls on the side of the stage holding up Foot Foot signs, and it occurred to me that one of them was Rachel Trachtenburg!  This got me wondering what Rachel has been up to.

Rachel Trachtenburg is currently playing in a band called SUPERCUTE!  They have some pretty catchy songs.  Here's one called Dumb Dumbs.

She also stars in a very fun show called Rachel Trachtenburg's Homemade World.

Rachel also hosts her own internet radio show on Progressive Radio Network called Rachel Trachtenburg's Pure Imagination, and you can purchase the soundtrack to Homemade World HERE!
