Today is the last day of a very awesome vacation.  I did a bunch of stuff without over-planning, but more like not planning much at all.  It just kind of happened, and that's my favorite kind of vacation.  Very few demands other than remembering to eat and sleep and have enough money for gas and records.

Early in my vacation I went to The Twin Cities to see family, as well as go record shopping and see the new Woody Allen movie, which is amazing.  Cate Blanchett deserves an Oscar.  Anyway, before Blue Jasmine they ran a trailer for a documentary about J.D. Salinger that I didn't even realize was being produced.  Apparently very few people knew, because all the press I've read about it indicates that it was produced with a Salinger level of secrecy.

The trailer was very well done, and Shelley made the great observation that it looks similar to Jandek On Corwood.  There's the mystery of the reclusive artist that people are unable to crack, and all we have is endless speculation about what the legendary author was up to for the last 50 years of his life.  Will there be great secrets revealed?  The press on the film and accompanying book indicate some major revelations, not the least of which is that posthumous books will begin coming out starting in 2015.  Pretty exciting stuff.

So here's the trailer for Salinger, which will be released in September.  Love him or hate him, you gotta admit the mystery is pretty exciting.
