Countdown To Halloween Blog Post No.24

Today's countdown blog post is more of a list of upcoming events you are all invited to participate in. Some are Shuffle Function Halloween traditions and others we are really fortunate to be a part of. I will start at the beginning and when I can I will include a link to past blog posts or venue information. So let's get started shall we!

Shuffle Function Grind-Fu Cinema
7 p.m. at Weicking 220 Auditorium
on the Campus of Minnesota State University Mankato
free admission - Halloween costumes encouraged and there will be cake at intermission!

and then

Judson Fountain "Radio Drammers"
from 6 to 9 a.m. on the morning show
We discovered the other day that we have neglected playing any Judson Fountain this month, and Halloween time is the best time of year to enjoy his "radio darmmers". To make up for our mistake we are dedicating an entire day to Judson Fountain. Be sure to turn off the lights, tune in to 89.7 fm on the radio dial and be completely in the dark!

and then

Lux Interior's "Purple Knif" and Radio Cramps on the morning show from 6 to 9 a.m.
We began this tradition from the very first year of the Shuffle Function morning show and hope to do so every year. Nothing says Happy Halloween more than The Cramps, and so we will be playing my vinyl records of Lux Interior's Purple Knif show recorded in the early 1980's in Hollywierd California. Essentially Lux is playing 45 records from his own collection, the music that informed and influenced the Cramps. To round out the show you will hear loads of music from the Cramps, so WAKE UP EARLY!!

and then
Shuffle Function Radio Roulette at 6 p.m.
We are a couple of control freaks Shyboy Tim and I, and handing over the show's playlist to random fate is a nightmare for us. That is why we play a round of Shuffle Function Radio Roulette every Halloween season. If you are unfamiliar with the rules of the road for this grand event, please follow this link to learn how it is done. Offerings were made to the Radio Gods this year, and so tune in to see if they were appeased or not!
and then
Jandek at the Cedar Cultural Center
doors open at 7 p.m.
Tim, Dave and I are once again working with the Representative from Corwood Industries for a Halloween show. Anyone who saw last years Mankato performance knows how amazing it was and won't hesitate to see Jandek again, but if you missed it this could be your last chance! Tickets are selling briskly folks so be sure to get yours in advance. Follow the last link, or go to The Cedar Cultural Center's website for detailed information on where you can pick up tickets. Don't miss out on this - the event is also going to be filmed for inclusion in a documentary being made by Mankato film makers as well.
and then

                       SAVE THE DATE
The KMSU Fall Pledge Drive begins November 6th and runs through the 15th. We have some amazing premiums available as a thank you gift for your pledges, and we can't wait to share them with you. We will be talking endlessly about them soon as well as reminding you why community radio is worth your financial support.
November 15th is Polka Til You Puke on the Shuffle Function Morning show from 6 to 9 a.m. Our usual Polka suspects will be joining us in the studio for three hours of Minnesota's true party music! Live polka music with Ambrose and the biggest polka fan in the world Maude will be in the studio with us. This is a blast and a great way to end the pledge drive.
That's a lot of stuff folks - email us if you have any questions - and we hope to see you soon at every one of them!! You can reach us at shufflefunction@hotmail.com
