We're huge Judson Fountain fans here at Shuffle Function.  If you're not familiar with his work, just imagine Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space done as a radio drama.  They are just that questionably wonderful.  Judson's radio dramas would be pressed up on a small run of vinyl and then sent out to radio stations for broadcast.  Remarkably, some stations actually played them!  These flawed little masterpieces actually succeed despite themselves.  Their failures make them all the more charming, and that's why we're devoting an entire show to Judson's work on October 30th.

October 30th from 6 - 9 a.m.

We'll be drawing from two great collections of Judson's work that were put out by Innova RecordingsCompletely In The Dark, and Dark Dark Dark and Other Dark Tales.  These collections present some of the highlights from the Judson Fountain catalog, and you'll hear a bunch of them during our program.  We're sure you'll love them as much as we do.  Judson's nothing if not a pile of energy and fun.

There aren't many records of Judson's life out there, with the exception of two things.  First, there's this clip on youtube of his appearance on a New York public access show called Stairway To Stardom:

The second was a brief reunion on WFMU in 1995 with Judson and Sandor Weisberger.  Sadly, the program is no longer on the WFMU website.  During the show Sandor and Judson discussed their career, and Judson also talked about his tough childhood and how radio gave him an escape.  It's a pretty good show if you can find it!

After the WFMU reunion Judson vanished.  Nobody has any idea where he is, and he's the kind of guy that should stand out in a crowd.  Do you have any idea where Judson is?  LET US KNOW!  THE WORLD IS WAITING!  Send us an e-mail at and let us know.
