THE AUTHORITATIVE BIOGRAPHY OF THE MOST HEAVILY DOCUMENTED BAND IN THE HISTORY OF THE ENTIRE GD WORLD: VOLUME ONE

Seriously, is there anything new left to say about The Beatles?  There must be 100 new books a year about them, after all.  Mark Lewisohn, the author of my favorite Beatles book of all time (The Beatles: Recording Sessions), seems to think so.  In fact, he's basically proven it with the forthcoming release of the first of three volumes devoted to the band.

The Beatles: All These Years, Vol. 1:  TUNE IN will cover the band from birth to 1962, and virtually every hour in between.  The abridged version of the book is 944 pages long.  THE ABRIDGED VERSION.  If that isn't enough for you, there's also a deluxe version that weighs in at a staggering 1700+ pages.  Let me remind you that this is only volume one.

Dear lord.

In addition to being insanely in depth, the book will also debunk several tales that have become huge parts of The Beatles canon. Stuff that even the band members told the world is being challenged.  The geek-o-verse will explode over this, no doubt, but honestly... there's no such thing as too much information for the obsessives.  At least that was the case before the world had a 1700 page first volume of a biography.

So... there's the abridged version (944 pages and less expensive) but for folks that really only want a kick ass read there's the original Lewisohn masterpiece The Beatles: Recording Sessions.  This is my all time favorite Beatles book.  Lewisohn was asked by EMI to listen to and document EVERY SINGLE SECOND of Beatles music.  He's one of a handful of folks that have had this honor.  This book lays it all out there, and you really get a feel for just how creative these guys were when they were setting the bar for pop music genius.

In a nutshell, this is the holiday season to be a fan of The Beatles.  If these don't make you happy then you're hopeless.
