Countdown to Halloween Blog Post # 3

Today let's celebrate the Music Geek, since this is a great day in Kato land to be a music geek! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today you can head over to the Mankato Music Expo at the Mankato Brewery. Admission is free, and there you can buy vinyl records from tons of sellers. You can also enjoy the fine adult beverages the Brewery has to offer, and enjoy the food truck that will be camped outside. It's everything you need under one roof! After you get a nap in - I suggest you head over to Patrick's in St. Peter to catch a show curated by KMSU radio hosts Guse and Dave. Music starts at 9 p.m. with a band from New Zealand called The Renderers and ends with local band Good Night Gold Dust. It's going to be a great show! Here is a clip from The Renderers for you to get a sneak peek of what to expect tonight.

I came across a post a few months back about someone who had pitch corrected a number of classic horror film soundtracks, changing the minor keys to major keys. You won't believe how different this makes them. As the original post on Dangerous Minds stated, this change makes something like Tubular Bells in the Exorxist sound like a Hugh Grant/Solsbury Hill tune. Have a listen!

In related news, it was announced this week that John Carpenter is going to step away from the directorial chair for a bit to perform his classic horror soundtracks at Iceland's All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in 2016. He is responsible for some of the most iconic music scores ever. Need some reminding? Okay, how about Halloween? Escape From New York? The Thing? Assault ON Precinct 13? The bells have got to be going off like gang busters by now! If you ever needed an excuse to go to the land of Bjork, this might just be it!

I'll see you music geeks out and about today!
