The Minneapolis Underground Film Festival is going on right now in Minneapolis at the St. Anthony Main Theaters.  They're featuring 110 short films, and 40 of them are Minnesota made.  This Saturday, October 10th, they're showing a film that may be of particular interest to KMSU listeners and fans of Jandek.  Ashkan Soltani's documentary "I Know You Well" is screening at 1:00pm that day, and it was shot around Jandek's two Minnesota performances in 2012 and 2013.

Ash, along with co-producer and peformer Craig Matarrese, was given unprecedented behind the scenes access to both the Mankato and Minneapolis Jandek shows.  You'll get a glimpse into the process of how these shows were developed and rehearsed, and then see actual footage from the performances.  There is also extensive interview footage with "The Rep" that reveals his thoughts on music and performance.  It's pretty great stuff.

The clips included from the Mankato performance will be particularly interesting, because that show may possibly be the greatest Jandek performance ever.  This isn't a biased opinion because we worked so closely on the show with him, either.  There are Jandek fans that have seen him multiple times that agree on this fact.  We've listened to all the Jandek live albums, too, and honestly, that Mankato show was EPIC.  It's one of those performances that can make one a true believer.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ash and Craig, and you'll probably find some pretty music geeky folks in the audience.  I gotta work and Shelley will be on a cruise, so you guys will need to go and let us know what you think.

Any chance the Mankato performance will be available for sale?
