It must seem like we're a broken record sometimes when we keep saying that the next Grind-Fu is going to be amazing. We say it about EVERY ONE, but only because it's true! But seriously, you guys, this Grid-Fu is going to be AMAZING! We have a double bill of action for you, and you're not gonna want to miss it!
The Guy From Harlem (1977)
We've shown a lot of terrible movies at Grind-Fu Cinema, but few are more beloved than The Guy From Harlem. The first time we screened it we had people urging us to show it again, and this year will the sixth year in a row that we've unleashed its amazing badness on the world. You may be asking yourself "why would they show a movie so many times if it's that bad?" Clearly, you have never seen The Guy From Harlem.
This is the best description of The Guy From Harlem that I've ever read:
"This film is technically horrendous: It is terribly written, poorly acted, and has essentially no production values... The technical aspects of the film match the artistic merits of the film, and I can't recommend this film to anyone for any reason."
They say that like it's a bad thing! Honestly, this film fails in so many ways that it ends up winning. It's a lot of fun to watch. The whole thing is so absurd that you can't help but be won over by it. It's seriously a blast, and you'll want to make sure you see it before you watch...
Enter the Dragon (1973)
They haven't invented enough hyperbolic ways to describe Enter the Dragon. It's nothing less than the masterwork from the greatest martial artists ever to grace the big screen. To this day it's the movie that sets the bar for just how great a martial arts film can be. There have been movies with more action and more spectacle in the decades since Enter the Dragon was unleashed, but they all suffer from two serious deficiencies: None of them are Enter the Dragon, and none of them star Bruce freakin' Lee.
If you've seen a Bruce Lee film before you know exactly what we're talking about. If not, then you gotta do something about it, and the perfect time would be on April 23rd at Grind-Fu Cinema. Lee is lightning fast, cool as hell, and a grade-a badass. As the poster says, Enter the Dragon is "The ultimate Martial Arts masterpiece!" WITNESS THE PROOF AT GRIND-FU CINEMA!
Have we even mentioned lately that GRIND-FU CINEMA IS FREE? You get to see these two amazing movies and it won't cost you a cent! Just show up by 8:00pm on Saturday April 3rd at Wiecking 220 Auditorium! It's on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato, and there's plenty of parking in back. Bring friends, snacks, and a willingness to have fun. Grind-Fu audiences are the best audiences to watch films with, so this event is for you, movie geeks!
I'm the new boy in town! Where can I go?
