HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Let the Countdown Begin!

Today is the first day of our favorite month, which also means it is time for the first of our blog posts as we count down the days to Halloween. As I sit here typing I have my windows open wide, soup simmering on the oven and there's a light cool fall breeze running through my house. Outside I can hear fallen leaves scuttling across the pavement and neighborhood kids enjoying the sunny Autumn day. In other words, it is perfect.

We have so many Halloween events planned for October and each and everyone of you are invited to join us. Starting this Monday you can call or text us with your Halloween music requests. Starting October 7th we will be celebrating all things spooky and horrible looking by playing a Judson Fountain "Radio Drammers" every day until Halloween. Shyboy Tim and I will also be conducting a series of six E.S.P. (Extrasensory Perception) Radio tests throughout the month to determine if our listening audience is psychic (and we think you are). The final Grind- Fu Cinema of the season is October 22nd, and this is the double bill with cake! We are screening The Witch and The Blair Witch Project that night, both of which are frightening beyond belief. And did I mention they are free? Thursday October 27th we will celebrate Halloween on the night times how with a round of Shuffle Function Radio Roulette. Random K-Tel playlists as determined by fate and the Radio Gods will be on deck that night. Last but not least, on Halloween we will play a vinyl record of Lux Interior of The Cramps playing vinyl records. It's The Purple Knif Show, and it's our Halloween Morning Show tradition. We will also share with all of you the data we compiled from the ESP Radio Tests, as well as handing out Trick Or Treat Candy. Like I said, it's a busy month, and it all starts today.

For my first blog post of the month I want to share with you a few more details concerning the E.S.P. Radio Tests that we will be conducting. As I mentioned in my earlier post, we were inspired by the Zenith Radio Hour E.S.P. Tests held in 1937. We will be conducting our E.S.P. Tests in order to test our working hypothesis that our KMSU radio listeners are psychic. We will be holding six separate tests throughout October, three during the morning show and three during the night time show. Each test will utilize cards especially developed for use in E.S.P. testing. One series consists of four different colors, and the other is a series of four different shapes. We want to familiarize you with what the cards look like, so when we conduct the test you'll already have the images in mind. So here is your preparation homework: have a look and get yourself comfortable with these cards.

E.S.P. Color Cards

Yellow Card

Blue Card

Green Card

Red Card

E.S.P. Shape Cards

Circle Card

Atom Card

Star Card

Square Card
There you have it. Each test that we conduct will involve ten questions, and you will have ten seconds to answer each one. In order to participate in the E.S.P. Radio Test you will need to come here to our blog where the test will be waiting for you to fill out as we perform it live on the radio. When you are finished with the test you will hit the submit button and you will be done. Unlike the tests done on the radio in 1937, we can get your answers immediately instead of relying on snail mail. All tests will be anonymous too, by the way. As I mentioned above, we will be compiling the data and then sharing the results with you on Halloween morning during the morning show. The key to this undertaking is getting as many people as possible to participate in the tests. That is where you guys come into this. Please try to tune into Shuffle Function on test days and participate. Better yet - tell all of your friends and family to do so too. Here is a list of all the E.S.P. Radio Test dates and times. Clip it out and tape it up to the fridge or to the side of your computer or on your bathroom mirror. Tape it anywhere that you can look at it regularly and to remind you.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 11th,  7:30 a.m.                       THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th,  6:30 p.m.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 18th,   7:30 a.m.                      THURSDAY OCTOBER 20th,  6:30 p.m.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 25th,  7:30 a.m.                       THURSDAY OCTOBER 27th,  6:30 p.m.

So we hope you will join us for all of the tests. If you have any questions at all about this don't hesitate to contact us. You can drop us an email at or give us a call during the morning show. And don't forget to come back here to the blog every day for a new Halloween blog post. Tim and I will be trading off days and counting down to Halloween, so check back often.
